A Synodal Church - What's it to me?

On 10 October 2021, Pope Francis launched the Vatican’s two-year synodal process with an opening Mass where he urged the global Catholic Church to master the “art of encounter.”

How does the Synod affect me? How does it relate to my day-to-day living as a Catholic? Join us for a special session by Fra John-Paul on the implications of a Synodal church and how this is related to each and every one of us.

Greetings of Peace and all Good!

Welcome and thanks for dropping by on our website!

The Franciscan Young Adults (18 – 35 yrs) is a fraternity of young women and men who find inspiration in the spirituality of St Francis and St Clare of Assisi.

These two saints and the 800 year history and patrimony arising from them remain the inspiration for our group.

Franciscan Spirituality has contributed much to the development of the Christian faith and remains a force for spiritual energy in today’s world.

Pope Francis, as what we call the “Francis moment” takes his inspiration from the Poverello from Assisi to lead the Church and the world towards a keen sense of awareness of our common home (Laudato Si) and our intimate connectedness to one another (Fratelli Tutti).

We welcome young adults who wish to journey on this common path of Franciscan spirituality.

Our Origin Story

The Franciscan Young Adults Fraternity was started by the Franciscan Friars in Singapore at the start of 2020 to bring together a Fraternity of Young Adults to walk together in a journey to God and into self, founded on Franciscan Spirituality.

The fraternity is led by Friar Derrick Yap, Friar John-Paul Tan, and Friar Gerald Tan. Our fraternity looks forward to journeying with you, together in the footsteps of St Francis and St Clare.
